Tim Howard, G – Really hurt seeing him give up 4 against Liverpool, but as the months go by, it becomes more and more clear that injury will be the only thing keeping him out of the line-up
Brad Guzan, G – Should already be looking ahead to Russia 2018
Nick Rimando, G - A start against Korea is confirmation that he will be the #3 guy in Brazil
Geoff Cameron, D – The standard-bearer for Yanks in England, has looked like the RB we need
Matt Beslar, D – Should start against Korea. Still the guy to beat
Omar Gonzalez, D – See above
DaMarcus Beasley, D – Getting consistent playing time at LWB helps his cause significantly
Fabian Johnson, D – Playing more LB in Germany than LM, so he gets pushed back into defense. Really looks capable, hope he doesn’t miss long with the broken hand
Brad Evans, D – Still Klinsi’s top choice at RB…but with Parkhurst back in MLS getting significant playing time…for who long?
Clarence Goodson, D – Brooks can’t stay healthy, but you won’t hear Goodson complaining
Michael Bradley, M – Toronto? Really? God I hope this works.
Graham Zusi, M – Finally get to see how he and Donovan play together on Feb 1, also consistent playing time should push him past Bedoya in the pecking order again.
Mix Diskerud, M – I really love the idea of him coming off the bench, against Mexico and Russia he was a spark…see also South Africa in 2011
Alejandro Bedoya, M – Consistent starter in Ligue 1, plays 3 or 4 positions well enough to earn time
Sacha Kljestan, M – Bradley moves to MLS. Jones is now in Turkey of all places…Sacha is back in the fold
Jermaine Jones, M – Move to Turkey is for primarily financial reasons. Not in European play, not even in the Turkish cup right now, yeah he’ll get playing time, but maybe he should’ve looked to MLS for better quality
Brek Shea, M – This loan keeps him alive. Must get a call-up against Ukraine or it won’t matter
Kyle Beckerman, M – Still merits inclusion. I expect a very consistent game from him against Korea
Aron Johannsson, F – New #1 striker? You bet! He’s in form and crushing it right now
Landon Donovan, F – Based on interviews, Klinsi trusts him again, the Zusi/Bedoya/Donovan/Dempsey/Johannsson/Altidore/EJ/Fabian battle for the 4 attacking/wide positions begins now
Jozy Altidore, F – For God’s sake, score or transfer before you get benched
Clint Dempsey, F – Is Fulham really that bad? I feel bad for Deuce right now
Eddie Johnson, F – He’s on the roster, but I’m not moving him till I see what he does with his new club
This will be the last month I do 35. I’m going to start calling the 30 man preliminary roster that we should expect for World Cup camp
Michael Parkhurst – Moves to MLS, gets a quick call-up, does he have enough time to unseat Evans?
Terrence Boyd – The 6th striker right now, if we cut a mid
John Anthony Brooks – JK wants him on this team so badly…for 2018
Hercules Gomez – So integral in 2012, but coaches have a short term memory
Michael Orozco Fiscal – Brooks is injury prone and Orozco is a viable back-up anywhere on the back line will merit a look
Edgar Castillo – May sneak on, but his chances are getting slimmer every week
Steve Cherundolo – Needs to start playing, or even I’ll remove him from the list
Timmy Chandler – Ukraine is his absolute last chance for 2014
Maurice Edu – Great decision to move to MLS, better decision to do it on loan
Chris Wondolowski – Could he be the Findley/Buddle/Gomez of 2014?
Brad Davis – Shea is not a given…but I’m not sold on Davis’s lack of real pace and defense
Oguchi Onyewu – Has dominated since his move to Sheffield, may get one last look against Ukraine
