First point I want to make. I'm not going to remove the guys from Tijuana or Puebla...yeah they didn't play this against Mexico, but they had club assignments, CCL or...whatever Puebla has...
Jose Torres, M - Yes, he did take a knock just before camp was announced... but then he played almost a full game that weekend. There is a decent chance that El Gringo will be on the 30 man roster, but lets be honest, he doesn't have a position in the US 4-2-3-1 after trying him out at DM, LM, CAM and LB.
Brad Davis, M - I think Davis kinda got screwed by not getting a chance to play in the Gold Cup, he would've probably been a starter but Klinsmann had him on the roster for the 5 games prior and despite the fact that he only played limited minutes during that run, Coach K didn't want to use him again in June. Had he played more he might be held in higher regard, but he just isn't a game changer, we are used to seeing more pace at LM with EJ, Fabian, Donovan, Castillo and Beasley, so putting Davis in the line-up doesn't really fit our current motiff. Beyond that he hasn't really impressed for the US outside of the Panama game last year...a game that truthfully didn't matter.
Carlos Bocanegra, D - After the back 4's performance against Mexico in the second half, I hate incluiding any defenders on this list, but I thought that Captain America had a legit shot at making this roster one more time, yes he's 35 but his leadership must count for something...
Benny Feilhaber, M - Kinda fits into the same role as Torres and Kljestan were he doesn't really do enough one way or the other to be useful. Surprised that Gil got the call instead of him, especially with how he has started this season for SKC. This was his last shot at making a roster
Steve Cherundolo, D - Enjoy your retirement Dolo, some people still thought you might make a run at this roster at the last minute, but it wasn't meant to be
There are a bunch of guys who need to step up and step up now, but have an outside shot at making the roster
Joe Corona, Hercules Gomez, DeAndre Yedlin, Juan Agudelo, Terrence Boyd, Timmy Chandler, Sacha Kljestan, Edgar Castillo, Michael Orozco
Finally I want to draw attention to Eddie Johnson and Brad Evans. Six months ago it would be impossible to fathom that these two may not get spots, but EJ has yet to score for DC and hasn't netted for the US since August (not to mention persistent talks of attitude issues) and Evans had a poor game against South Korea, since then he has been hurt and Parkhurst is dominating...its become a case of what have you done for me lately
